ALBA Doubles Vote in Dundee
The ALBA Party and Independence have received “a boost” tonight following the Lochee by-election in Dundee.
The ALBA candidate beat the Liberal Democrats and the Greens, for the second week running, to record a result that would see ALBA MSPs returned to Holyrood in 2026.
Former Dundee Councillor and ALBA candidate Alan Ross near doubled his vote share compared to 2022 achieving 5.5%.
Commenting at the count, Alan Ross said:
“This is a good night for the ALBA Party. Last week in Perth we trebled our vote share. We’ve doubled it this week in Dundee.
“The ALBA Party are now scoring at levels which will see ALBA MSPs elected to Holyrood in 2026.”
ALBA Party leader, Alex Salmond said:
“Both ALBA and Independence have received a boost tonight in the Yes City of Dundee.
“The result tonight further highlights the progress that ALBA are making across Scotland. For two successive weeks ALBA have outstripped the Greens and the Liberals and have recorded significant increases in our vote share.
“ALBA is rising.”
