ALBA Hail Council Tax Freeze Victory But Call on SNP to Listen on Independence
Reacting to the announcement by First Minister Humza Yousaf MSP that the Scottish Government is to freeze Council Tax next year ALBA Westminster Leader Neale Hanvey MP said:
“This announcement is a victory for ALBA’s campaign to freeze the Council Tax and the right decision in the midst of a cost of living crisis when families across Scotland are struggling to pay the bills. Plans for further council tax rises should be scrapped for the remainder of this Parliament and the freeze must be fully funded so as to protect vital public services.
“Having listened on Council Tax the First Minister must now listen on Independence. The Independence cause is bigger than the SNP, and right now more popular by some margin. Instead of abdicating their leadership of the Independence movement the SNP must embrace a ‘Scotland United’ approach as the best way to achieve victory for Scotland at the coming UK Election.”
