ALBA on course to win seats in Scotland at Holyrood election – POLL
SUNDAY TIMES SURVEY PROJECTS ALBA SURGE
ALBA Party are set to win seats in Scotland at the next Holyrood election, according to a new poll.
The poll from Norstat published today in the Sunday Times put ALBA at 5% in the regional vote, with polling expert Sir John Curtice saying this result in 4 ALBA members being elected to the Scottish Parliament at the next election.
The poll would see Ash Regan MSP re-elected to the Scottish Parliament and would see the return of Alex Salmond as part of a group of ALBA Party MSPs.
Welcoming the prospect of a group of ALBA Party members being elected to the Scottish Parliament, ALBA Party’s General Secretary Chris McEleny said:
“Over the past three years we have spent our energy and resources campaigning for Scottish independence so that we can make an impact for independence at the next Scottish Parliament elections.
“Today’s Sunday Time Poll shows that votes for ALBA Party on the regional list will be crucial to ensuring that a pro independence majority is returned to the Scottish Parliament.
“Scotland is an energy-rich nation, but our people live in fuel poverty. Westminster is seizing tens of billions in revenues from the North Sea whilst pensioners are having their winter fuel payments taken from them and the energy price cap is set to increase again to hit households in the pocket. And this is on the back of news that a new “super highway” will see Scottish renewable electricity sent South with no benefits being felt by the people of Scotland from the fact that we will generate five times more electricity through wind energy than we use.
“Independence must be an immediate and urgent priority for Scotland and we will continue to make that argument in the weeks and months to come. It is now clear that list votes for ALBA Party will be crucial in delivering a pro independence majority to Holyrood at the next Scottish Parliament election.”
