Hanvey Responds to NHS Fife Decision on Sandie Peggie Case
Commenting on the news that NHS Fife has cleared nurse Sandie Peggie of gross misconduct, ALBA Party Depute Leader and former Fife MP Neale Hanvey, who has supported Ms Peggie throughout her case, issued the following statement:
"When Sandie first came to speak to me, it was clear she had done nothing more than defend her rights under the Equality Act and her health and safety employment protections. I assured her that what had been done to her was wrong and I would do all I could to help her.
"As she prepares for the resumption of her employment tribunal, to learn that she has been cleared of misconduct after a protracted 18 month internal investigation will no doubt be a relief to Sandie, but it will bring little comfort given the unimaginable stress she has been placed under by a process commenced because NHS Fife appear to have been guided by a discredited ideology throughout.
"Like so many others who’ve spoken up against gender ideology, Sandie has discovered that the process is the punishment and her life has been turned upside down. For NHS Fife to subject a valuable experienced A&E Nurse with a 30 year unblemished career in such a harsh and careless manner only serves to demonstrate how Scotland’s public services have been captured by gender ideology and this must be rooted out of schools, hospitals, policing and government now.
“I am relieved for Sandie, but none of this should have happened in the first place and we need a full investigation into who this was allowed to happen.”
