Holyrood Election can be Scotland’s ‘Independence Day’ says MacAskill

Holyrood Election can be Scotland’s ‘Independence Day’ says MacAskill

Kenny MacAskill has called for the next Scottish Parliamentary election to be used as “the democratic route to Independence”

He gave his first conference speech as ALBA Party Leader to a packed crowd of members at his parties annual conference in Edinburgh today.

During his keynote speech he said:

“No more please sir, can we have another referendum? We will neither demean ourselves nor delude the Scottish people.

“With a Referendum ruled out, the democratic route to Independence is through an Election. Even Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, recognised that if Scots vote for Independence they will get Independence.

“The Supreme Court ruled out a Referendum but recognised the legitimacy of an Election. Thats why every vote for Alba is a vote for Independence.  A majority of votes cast for Independence parties at this Holyrood Election must be our Independence Day!”
