Independence Dream a “Reality” for majority of Scots

New poll shows support for independence backed by majority of 52% 

SCOTTISH Independence is a reality a majority of Scots want to deliver, say Alba Party. 

The pro independence party has reacted to a new poll that shows 52% say they would vote Yes to Scottish independence compared to 48% who would vote No. 

Alba Party’s Holyrood leader Ash Regan has welcomed the poll - conducted by British Polling Council member FindOutNow - ahead of a campaign visit to Gourock in the West of Scotland later today. 

Ms Regan will be visiting to support Alba Party’s candidate Chris McEleny in the upcoming Gourock by-election. 

Alba say that suggestions that support for Scottish independence will fall have been silenced by the poll that shows over a majority of Scot’s would vote for independence if a second independence referendum was held. 

Commenting ahead of her visit to Gourock, Alba Party Holyrood leader Ash Regan MSP said: 

“After the 2014 independence referendum Alex Salmond said that the dream shall never die. Far from the people of Scotland accepting that decisions about our future are better made in Westminster, for a majority of Scots the dream of independence is the reality they want to see fulfilled. 

“Whether it’s cuts to pensioners fuel allowances or sticking to Tory austerity, Labour have shown that changing the rosettes behind the door of Number 10 offers Scotland more of the same and only with independence can we make the decisions best suited to our needs. Alba Party will continue to make the case, positively, for Scotland’s independence as an urgent priority.”

“I am pleased to welcome Ash Regan to Gourock today. She has been a leading voice standing up for the rights of women and girls in Scotland, has defended Scottish industry and has championed the sort of common sense, grown up issues at Holyrood that matter to people in Gourock.”
