For almost ten years Mr Shepard and his SNP colleagues prioritised the Westminster trough over advancing the case for Scottish independence.

During my time as an Alba MP I tabled my Scotland Self-determination Bill twice. The Bill would have delivered exactly what Tommy is now belatedly calling for.

Their choice not to act in the national interest did not go unnoticed and the dwindling support for the SNP is the cost of that folly. Aping the efforts of others like me as some grand solution is risible. If they are remotely serious then they should back Ash Regan’s Bill to consult those whose opinions really matter, the people of Scotland.
