ALBA Party Calls for Clarity and Protection of Women’s Rights in Response to EHRC Code Review
The ALBA Party has formally submitted a response to the consultation on the EHRC’s Code of Practice for public bodies, following the landmark Supreme Court ruling in the For Women Scotland case.
This intervention reflects ALBA’s continued commitment to upholding legal clarity and defending women’s rights in public policy.
Commenting, ALBA Women’s Convener Debbie Ewen said:
“It is of vital importance that clear and unambiguous language is used throughout. The Code must avoid any suggestion that service providers have discretion to apply exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
“A single-sex space or activity is just that — single-sex. Any attempt to include members of the opposite biological sex, regardless of how they identify, removes the single-sex categorisation for everyone.”
