"Sack the Board!" Hanvey Calls for the Axing of NHS Fife Leadership

ALBA Party Depute Leader Neale Hanvey has called for a “complete review” of all DEI (Diversity, Equality and Inclusion) positions across Scotland’s health boards following the Sandie Peggie scandal.

Hanvey is a keynote speaker at the Human Gay Male Conference in Glasgow today (Saturday, 19 July). The ALBA Depute Leader, a former NHS cancer nurse and senior NHS manager, will also call for the sacking of the NHS Fife board.

The former Fife MP took on Ms Peggie’s case while serving in Westminster for Kirkcaldy and Cowdenbeath and has supported her throughout her battle with NHS Fife.

Speaking at the conference, which focuses on the protection of same-sex attracted men, he will say:

“The Sandie Peggie case exemplifies the dangerous extent to which gender ideology has infiltrated our public institutions. A woman was punished simply for stating biological reality - something that should never have been a disciplinary matter. This is not just an isolated case, it is symptomatic of a wider institutional capture that must be addressed.

“Scotland’s public bodies should be grounded in truth, scientific fact, and respect for free speech. The idea that someone can face sanctions for affirming that sex is immutable is Orwellian.

“Public policy must be based on reality, not on the demands of lobby groups that do not represent the views of the majority of Scots.

“We must now take decisive action to root gender ideology out of our public institutions. Starting with a complete review of DEI posts across health boards and the removal of the NHS Fife leadership.”
