ALBA Slams UK "Sell Out' of Scots Fisheries
Reacting today (Monday) to the announcement by Sir Keir Starmer that the re-negotiated deal with the European Union (EU) will see EU countries granted access to Scotland’s fishing grounds for another 12 years, Alba National Executive Committee (NEC) member and former MP for Na h-Eileen an lar, Angus Brendan MacNeil said:
“This is a sell out of Scotland’s fisheries and Scotland’s fishermen.
“Whether it is Scotland's fish, Scotland oil, or Scotland's refineries - they are all bargaining chips for the UK Government in Westminster. But Scotland has a choice, we can moan or do something positive and move to independence.
“ALBA will be giving voters that opportunity in the election next year - the choice is clear, complain about Scotland being kicked about by Labour and Tory Westminster or vote for independence and become a normal nation.
“As part of the UK Scotland’s fish stocks are expendable with an independent Scotland as a member of the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Scotland’s fishing stocks will be protected and Scotland’s fisherman and fishing communities will have a bright future.”
