SNP Councillor Backs ALBA on the List

SNP Councillor Backs ALBA on the List

I WRITE as a councillor of the Scottish National Party, not merely as a servant of the people but as a voice for the downtrodden, the weary, and the defiant who yearn for a Scotland unshackled from the chains of Westminster’s decrepit Union. The hour is upon us, the moment to seize our destiny, not through meek petitions or grovelling compromise, but through the ballot box – a weapon more potent than any tyrant’s sword.

I call upon every working man and woman, every family bent double by the cost of living, every soul who sees the disgrace of food banks multiplying like sores on this rich land, to vote SNP on the constituency list and Alba on the regional list.

This is our path to a pro-independence majority in the Scottish Parliament, the spark to ignite the flame of independence and cast off the yoke of a Union that fattens the few while starving the many.

Let us be clear, democracy is not a gift bestowed by the powerful –it is a right wrested from their grasp by the people’s will. The British state, that crumbling relic of empire, hoards power in London’s gilded halls, doling out crumbs to Scotland while our children go hungry and our pensioners shiver. The cost-of-living crisis is no accident – it is the fruit of their system, a system that thrives on exploitation, that sees profit in poverty, that turns abundance into want.

We cannot reform this rotting edifice; we must demolish it and build anew. A vote for the SNP in every constituency is a vote to smash the Westminster stranglehold, to send a legion of fighters to Holyrood who will brook no delay in declaring our sovereignty.

But the struggle demands more, iron clarity. Unity of purpose among the oppressed is the anvil on which victory is forged. The regional list offers us a second front – here, I say, cast your lot with Alba, that bold standard-bearer of independence untainted by hesitation.

Together, SNP and Alba can forge a pro-independence majority, a bulwark against the Unionists who peddle promises of “better together” while food banks multiply and families drown in debt.

This is no mere electoral tactic; it is a revolutionary act, a declaration that Scotland’s working masses will no longer be pawns in Westminster’s game but masters of their own fate.

John Maclean, that lion of the Clyde, roared against the bosses who bled Scotland dry, and his spirit lives in us still. He saw the Union for what it is – a parasite gorging on our labour, our land, our very lives.

Today, the evidence is stark: food banks rising like monuments to Westminster’s failure, the cost of living a millstone around the necks of our people, families crushed beneath burdens no rich man in Whitehall will ever know. Independence is not a dream – it is a necessity, a matter of survival. With SNP and Alba united in purpose, we can wield the Scottish Parliament as a battering ram against the Union, proclaiming our independence not as a plea but as a fact, a sovereign nation reborn by the will of its people.

So I say to you, let us march to the polling stations as one, with SNP on the constituency vote and Alba on the regional list. Let us deliver a majority that thunders our intent: Scotland will be free –not tomorrow, not when Westminster deigns to allow it, but now, by our hands, our votes, our unbreakable resolve.

The Union is a dying beast; let us bury it and raise a Scotland where no child goes hungry, where no family buckles under the weight of greed, where the wealth of our land serves the many, not the few. This is our fight, our right, our revolution. Forward, to independence!
