Swinney is failing to "give a lead to the Independence movement"

Swinney is failing to

First Minister John Swinney today claimed that a majority SNP Government at next years Holyrood election will pave the way for a second Independence referendum, urging independence voters to vote for the SNP in the constituency and regional list next May.

In response, ALBA Party Chair, Tasmina Ahmed-Sheikh said:

“Both votes SNP is a failed political tactic which will neither deliver an SNP majority nor a pro Independence majority in the Scottish Parliament.

“Nicola Sturgeon gave us the Supreme Court folly now John Swinney is failing to give a lead to the Independence movement.

“This approach is inadequate, underwhelming and shows a lack of urgency.

“At some point the SNP are going to have to realise that they are not the independence movement and that progress on Independence requires an agreed strategy to achieve it.

“That is why Alba is calling on all pro Independence parties to include a clear and unwavering commitment in their manifestos that a majority of votes cast on the list for pro Independence parties will be the mandate to deliver it.”
