The Independence Election
We Don't Need Westminster's Permission
Alba Party will contest the Holyrood elections seeking a mandate for independence and making the case of independence as an urgent necessity for the social and economic well-being of our land and our people.
Independence is not simply a constitutional matter; it is vital to the advancement of the welfare of the Scottish People and the growth of Scotland’s economy. Alba Party will highlight that link and the necessity of Independence.
With a referendum refused this election will be fought as a plebiscite election seeking a mandate for independence. This democratic opportunity will allow the people of Scotland to express their support for independence. Victory will no longer be to a means to request a further referendum but will form the basis to commence negotiations to establish an independent Scottish state.
Paragraph 81 of the Supreme Court decision of November 2022, recognised the authority of democracy yet blocked the democratic referendum on independence. In doing so, it proved that an election can be used as a means for restoring independence as courts do not and can not block elections or thwart manifesto commitments that the people of Scotland can mandate.
Alba will work with others supporting independence to both win that election and in forming an Independence focused administration in Holyrood.
