“HPMA decision a victory for common sense but time for Harvie and Slater to go” says ALBA’s Hanvey

Speaking today (Thursday) ALBA Westminster Leader Neale Hanvey MP has reacted to the Scottish Government’s u-turn over Highly Protected Marine Areas (HPMAs).

“This is a victory for common sense and very welcome news for those fishing communities who were quite rightly up in arms about HPMAs

“If allowed to go ahead this would have been an act of vandalism against our fishing communities for no benefit whatsoever.

“I am glad these plans will not now go ahead and that the voices of our fishing communities have won through in the end but a government acting in the interests of the people and the communities they were elected to serve would never have brought them forward in the first place.

“But let's be clear this is another dud Green policy which bites the dust. The Greens need to urgently review their leadership and their divisive policies. They’re dragging the case for independence down. For the sake of good government and the Independence cause it is time for Harvie and Slater to go.”
