Council Funding

A Fair Settlement

The recent Scottish Government budget shows that the funding for Local Government has dropped by 21% which is set to put more stress on an already stretched Scottish Councils front line services. This lack of funding has serious implications for essential services and the overall well-being of the citizens. These services are the ones often required by the most vulnerable. Analysis shows real terms cut to our revenue and capital spending power which will leave Council services at breaking point. This latest budget will mean that people will lose jobs in. roles that support families and deliver vital services that make a positive difference to people’s lives.

ALBA call upon the Scottish Government to reassess and reconsider the financial allocation to local authorities, ensuring that adequate funding is provided to address the existing challenges and facilitate the effective delivery of essential services. We also urge the Scottish Government to listen to stakeholders with a focus on mitigating the serious implications of the current funding constraints..
